Embarking on my own career journey and armed with a PhD in Chemical Physics, I became a Research Scientist . Over the span of 17 exhilarating years, I built a research group funded by grants from Research Councils, EU Framework projects, major commercial partners, and Government Departments. It was a gripping ride, but the high stakes and relentless competition took their toll. Nights lost to worry, and a nagging feeling of underachievement plagued me.

My Institute offered me an opportunity to try out a new coaching and development programme. I seized it with both hands, eager for change. Little did I know it would revolutionise not just my leadership style but my entire outlook on research .

The coaches I encountered guided me through a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. They showed me how to lead not just others, but myself. It was eye-opening and invigorating—a transformational journey that rewired my approach to work and career.

Since then, I've paid it forward, mentoring, and coaching countless doctoral students, post docs, colleagues, and peers. With a blend of passion, unwavering research curiosity and creativity I take my practice seriously, but never  myself!
